ECU modification for FI vehicles

Postby Zuffy » Fri May 04, 2007 10:41 am

Hey guys, I'm wondering if I'm reading rule 8.8.2 correct. From what I understand a ECU modification for FI vehicles is ok if it doesn't alter boost, or shift points, and there's no points require either for that mod. I though a change costs 1pt, and 4pts if boost is changed, but it looks like if there's no boost mod then there is no points required. Whaddya think?

Dear Mr ImNotGonnaWorryAboutBeingCompetitiveThisYear :P,
That's the way its always been. No boost change=no points for ECU modification. They upped the boost change points to 4 this year though.

Someone could get picky and make you prove that the boost profile is identical to stock, but if that's the program that has been commonly used in STX in the states, I would think that would be good enough.

When I first started any reflashed ECU was 2 points, which seemed like alot of points for the power I gained. Then IIRC 3 or 4 years ago it switched to altered boost ecu 2 points and then to 4 points for this year.

An STX map should allow you to run ESS.

Interesting change for any boosted cars in SS. No more 'springs and ECU' in SS anymore, like a certain way too fast Jetta (the driver might have had more than a little to do with that!).
